Summit K9

My dog started going to Summit for intensive day training and private lessons in 2023. I initially started here because they were one of the few trainers who offer balanced training that is completely tailored to each dog, and it is a nonjudgemental space. They don't just slap a prong/ecollar on the dog, they assess how the dog responds to tools, what the dog and owner are comfortable with, and they also train owners on how to properly use tools if they choose to use them- and I've personally seen others greatly succeed with positive reinforcement only training with Summit! I had tried multiple "force free only" trainers in the area before, and my dogs recall and reactivity did not improve despite working with her every single day. I just completed the Master The Leash class with my dog, Comet, and I can’t recommend Summit K9 enough! Marcus was very informative, and taught me different ways to do things specifically for how Comet was acting. He introduced me to a prong collar and how to properly use it. Comet has been much better on the leash from when we first started. I will be back!!

We brought our 9 month old puppy Bodhi in for the Bombproof Base Training Level 1 class and months later I still use the training information and skills we learned daily. I appreciate the positive reinforcement training methods and deeper understanding of how to build layers of communication with my dog.

We cannot recommend Devan and the team at Summit K9 more. They specialize in dogs that are “just a bit too much” and that was definitely our husky/cattle dog mix, Bear. We opted for the board and train program. It is so comprehensive and such a great value for all that you get (3-week program, follow-ups, Sunday skills, access to a wonderful community, take home tools, etc.). We are so happy with the improvement in our relationship with our dog.

We found Summit K9 when Brewer was 5 months old. Being a high energy pup the daycare program was great to help build his socialization skills and helped him work through those high impulse puppy feelings. We have also enrolled in group training, personal training and skills classes.
