Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro Animal Shelter

The new location at the old Verona Elementary school was the best spot they could have found to move into. There is so much more space, things seem less stressed for the animals, and the staff seem happier. Lots of room for potential adopters to get to know the animals.

Augusta county animal shelter with a very caring staff. Squeaky clean. Found a very lost dachshund on my porch. Left on the road by a family moving an elder to medicaid housing. Fed and watered her, a blanket to sleep on, took to my local vet inspection, deflea, nail trim. Chip check. Obviously elder companion. Wanted to keep her but incontinent.

Doggy Day Out is such a wonderful experience to be able to share with the doggies at the shelter. I will most definitely be back for another day out 🐕 ❤️ And they have a pet pantry for pet owners in need of food, treats, beds, kitty litter, etc.

The staff are amazing! They beam when they talk about their fur babies. You can tell how much they care for the pets in the shelter and the pets are very attached to the staff. This only comes from good loving care. I would recommend anybody drive 2 hours and 45 minutes to meet their next best friend!❤️like I did.

Very frustrating and disappointing. They had a dog I wanted to see. They don’t answer phone calls or emails so it’s pot luck to know if the animal you want is even there. Their application calls for (3) references which I don’t mind if it’s the right animal for us. However, when I stopped in, they said they needed the application filled out to even know if the animal is available. I’m sure they’re animal lovers but they are rude, unprofessional and understaffed. I do not want my references bothered if I don’t even know if the animal is the right one
