Splash and Dash Groomerie & Boutique

I don’t see how anyone could leave bad reviews! My Maltese Koko came out so cute and the price is fairly reasonable compared to big company groomers. The staff was so sweet to me and my dog and they gave updates and even called me to let me know they couldn’t do the exact haircut I asked for since he was matted on his legs. I will definitely be coming back. (Photos upload of before and after).

I’m really disappointed with my experience here. When I walked in, the woman at the front had her own dog there. That wouldn’t normally be an issue, but the dog was growling at my dog when we arrived. Also, that dog peed on me as I was standing there checking in… When I came back to pick him up after his haircut, they opened the back door and my dog ran out toward me. As he was coming toward me, the dog that sits up front ran after him and started nipping/biting at him multiple times. This happened right in front of the staff, and nothing was done about it. I said, “Your dog is biting my dog, I would be careful,” and there was no response or effort to separate the dogs. That made me extremely uncomfortable. I’ve taken my dog to two other groomers and both have said he’s very well-behaved.

I was hesitant to try this boutique due to its typical high prices. However, I received a first-time discount, which was a nice surprise. I brought my golden doodle and hey dad a standard poodle. While dad 🐶 looked fine after his shave, my golden doodle received a subpar haircut, particularly around her face and she still smelled like urine after her grooming. I was shocked and disappointed. Upon leaving, they booked me for another appointment in five weeks and offered a membership with overpriced services. Needless to say, I won't be returning. In fact, I took my golden doodle to Peco in Brookline the same week, and she received a significantly better haircut and didn't smell like urine afterward.

Wish I could give more than 5 stars! Have been to both Burlington and Somerville locations, both are excellent. I used to take my dog to Petco, and they would shave him down completely and he’d look bad. For the same price, he leaves Splash&Dash looking handsome & maintaining some of his poodle fluffiness. They also take especially good care of him. At previous groomers, he would sometimes come home with small cuts, or get ear infections from the way they bathed him. At Splash & Dash this is never the case. We made the switch and never looked back!

While our dog has received great haircuts at Splash and Dash Groomerie & Boutique, reliability has been a consistent issue for us. Of the four appointments we’ve scheduled, two have been canceled the morning of the appointment. Most recently, we had an appointment and received a cancellation call 10 minutes before due to the groomer not feeling well—after we were already on our way and nearly there. If you live in Assembly Row and have a very flexible schedule, this may still be a convenient option. However, if you need dependable appointment times, it may be worth looking for a groomer with more consistent scheduling.
