Snake River Animal Shelter

River agreed to let me be her human. The staff were extremely helpful and supportive and the process was incredibly easy. They told me she was shy but would warm up quickly and they were 100% right. So glad I decided to stop by and meet River. We are both happy!

Adopted a border collie mix from this shelter a year ago. She was there for a year and was on a list to be euthanized at one point. When looking at her, a women came in and had to do a monologue and we should’ve known something was probably wrong then. We fell in love though and we still love our girl and just want what’s best, unfortunately her territorial tendencies were severely downplayed to us. We were told she doesn’t get along with bigger dogs and that she herds. That’s it. I grew up with dogs her exact mix and who would herd. We gave her time to adjust as needed but in that time she has bit and drawn blood on over 4 family members including myself. While pregnant. She goes for the face, no food or toys involved. I would not get your dog neutered or fixed here. Cheapest place in town but didn't let me come in while they gave the anesthesia when on the phone they said they would because of dogs anxiety. They made me reschedule another day and then had me drug my dog so he would be more docile. He didn't need all the extra drugs and after the surgery he couldn't really walk or move or pee for over 24 hours and walked into walls not knowing they exist. He peed on my carpet a few days later or soemthing. He has a hard time peeing. I kept the cone and at 14 days I took it off and his wound became bloody and I put the cone back on and texted the vet line. They said keep the cone on for two days which I did, have yet to remove the cone after 17 days and am afraid of the wound and the Snake River Animal Sh

The staff was friendly and helpful. When I explained that I wanted a dog or puppy that would get along with several cats, they talked about the 2 options they had available and let me visit with both so I could decide which suit best for my home. The facility was clean and the animals were well cared for. I adopted a puppy as he would be a mid sized dog. He is great and we just adore him.

Dr Sweeney is amazing!! So glad a friend told me about this shelter!! I was having to make some hard choices with a stray cat and Dr. Sweeney just made the whole situation a ton less stressful!! Thank you!!!
