Secaucus Animal Shelter

I’m all for adopt don’t shop, my first 3 cats were from shelters/foster homes and most people who work for and in shelters are amazing but this place was disappointing. Through multiple conversations both on the phone and in person they repeatedly said that they go through each and every application they receive for an animal to ensure everything checks out. Well, they obviously do not because my veterinarian nor 3 of the other references placed on my application were ever contacted by this shelter. In person they also asked invasive questions that I personally felt were inappropriate and had nothing to do with the application itself or the animal. The whole coming in to see if you and the animal are a good fit is really just a screen for them to look you up and down and decide right then

I have adopted from this shelter twice and it is phenomenal. The way it is run by Christine Conte and the care for all the animals is the best around. These animals get the best medical care and so much love. The staff is very kind and knowledgeable. All the volunteers give the best love and care to the animals and work so hard to get them all adopted. The cats I adopted from them you could say were rescued but I was the one that was really saved. All absolute loves of my life. So much happiness and joy this shelter has given me and I would always think of them first when adopting, THE BEST IN RESCUE!😻🦮❤️

We had a great experience at Secaucus Animal Shelter. We had recently lost our beloved dog of nine years (also a rescue) and were looking to fill the hole in our hearts with a new furry family member. Chris guided us to our new pup and helped us facilitate a smooth and quick adoption for Latte (aka Scout). I think that both Scout and our family are settling in quite nicely and are happy to have found each other!

The best no-kill animal shelter! Staff is always so friendly and compassionate. They do everything to make sure the animals are well taken care of and go to the right homes. They even keep shelters outside for stray cats to stay warm.

This place is amazing ! i adopted my kitten about 3 months ago and we are so in love . Yes , the process was lengthy , with things such as an interview , references and a background check . I however , love that they do this as it makes sure these animal go home with good people . My kitten was fully vaxed and had all her screenings done , they took such good care of my baby and i will forever be grateful ❤️❤️ ADOPT DONT SHOP!!!
