Sammy’s friends is a go to thrift store! If you are in the area and you love animals, Sammy’s friends has this amazing story and long history of being fantastic thrift store that supports Sammy’s friends who is an adoption, pet adoption facility. When we were there recently, they had the cutest kitten that lives in the store. He’s the luckiest kitten. He gets so much love and he is a doll. They also had a second cat in there. I did not know his story, but he also is beautiful calico coat. If you are in Nevada city or grass Valley, you must visit Sammy‘s friends! Animal lovers what can I say? Sammies friends (Erica and Staff) where amazing to work with. We visited 2 times before adopting. We adopted Sweet Bernard... He is just an angel! We are so blessed to have him included in our family. He loves his sister Pepper Ann already.. and vice versa! They are trying to play even though meam ole mommy has to bring it to a quick halt, due to him being neutered just 5 days ago! Pepper Ann hates the cone of shame he has to wear... It is always in her way!.... But rest assured the games will commence once he is cleared to rough house a bit! It was unfortunate that I couldn't foster Bernard before he was fixed due to living in a different county. But the rules are the rules and they are there for a reason I'm sure! We had an amazing experience with Sammie's Friends! On May 20 2025, We adopted a sweet older boy formerly called Cheez-It, (now Toby), a 10-11 yr old chihuahua/Corgi mix. The shelter was kind, professional and had clearly taken wonderful care of this small, older dog. He is an absolute Winner. We love him and he has settled in so well. He immediately knew how to use the dog door to get into the garden, and has bonded well with us. I found Sammie's to be kind, caring and passionate about their mission to re-home dogs. They never advertise kittens. They keep them in the back and tell you that they're not ready to adopt yet. If you go in there's no waiting list for these kittens. They don't call you back when you leave a message. The ASPCA in Roseville is so much better.

I love that Sammie's is a no kill shelter. The staff is so knowledgeable, friendly and supportive. We fostered a dog for them before and are currently adopting a sweet puppy. They help make the the process smooth and easy.
