The Rockingham Harrisonburg SPCA is one of the most compassionate places I have ever known. As a volunteer, I get to witness the love, patience, and devotion the staff shows every animal who walks through their doors. These animals aren’t just “pets” to them—they are souls deserving of safety, comfort, dignity, and a chance at a beautiful life. The team works tirelessly day and night to make sure every animal is fed, clean, cared for, and given the medical attention they need. Their kindness is real, and it’s constant. We adopted our wonderful dog, Benny, from the Rockingham Harrisonburg SPCA, and our experience has been nothing short of amazing. Inspired by the positive atmosphere, we started volunteering and walking dogs weekly, and every visit reminds us how much this shelter has transformed. I volunteered and fostered here last summer and had an amazing experience! All the volunteers and staff were super helpful and welcoming and I had a great experience. I fostered (and then foster failed) a cat Lucy and had a great experience doing so. They provided me with litter, food, a cat bed, litter box, toys, etc with no cost! After two months I decided to adopt my 12 year old girl (now 13!) and it was great! I am so happy to have had this experience, especially being able to adopt Lucy. She is truly amazing ❤️
