Richardson Animal Shelter

I went to the shelter with a friend who found a dog wandering in her neighborhood yesterday. The facilities were bright & inviting, the three male staff members who helped us were very knowledgeable & professional and they made a generally difficult process very pleasant! I was very impressed with how the staff seemed to genuinely care for the young dog my friend dropped off. I highly recommend Richardson Animal Shelter if you're looking to save a life and adopt!

Less than impressed with my first visit here today, took my grandma to see a cat that had been on their website for two days. The shelter itself is beautiful and clean, when we went to the cat room a volunteer helped us try and look for the cat in their extremely barren cat room. He told us that cats got adopted very quickly, and took us up front to talk to the staff. They had a free roaming cat on the counter who then got snatched off by a huge dog in front of me, my elderly grandma, and a group of extremely small children. The cat got away thank god. We then talked to a front office person who looked like he’d literally rather be doing anything else who told us the cat was just taken a couple of hours ago by a rescue then just kind of shrugged us off. A Truly Amazing Adoption Experience at Richardson Animal Shelter! I recently had the most wonderful experience adopting my dog, Apollo, from the Richardson Animal Shelter, and I can't recommend them highly enough! My daughter and I visited a few times before we found Apollo, and every single staff member and volunteer we encountered was an absolute pleasure. It's so obvious that everyone who works there truly loves what they do and genuinely cares for the animals. Their dedication shines through in every interaction. The facility was clean. Which was really impressive because it appeared that almost every cat and dog kennel was full! But they all looked cared for. The entire adoption process was seamless from start to finish. My name is Angela cheatham. I adopted little baby pitbull about 3 weeks ago, right before Christmas 20 25. My experience was amazing. So nice, very thorough with information which I was very grateful for. Already being spayed and had all our vaccinations and shots. I feel very blessed to receive this puppy in such wonderful health. I misplaced my record though, so I called back today and spoke to an angel of theirs named Rachel, so sweet, I explained my situation and she rectified the problem immediately with a smile. The people that work at Richardson Animal Shelter love these animals. Thank you Rachel for allowing God to shine through you and make my day.

I have been trying to adopt a kitty for months and the staff at Richardson Shelter were so kind and thoughtful! They allowed me first choice because they saw my cat in the parking lot waiting for them to open. There was another couple interested in the kitty I liked, so I stepped back and the staff, especially Shawn, worked hard to find a kitty that would work out for me (and it’s not even his job to do so!) Given how many other places I had gone and all the petfinder fosters I talked with who were not helpful (I realize everyone is busy and being a foster is a wonderful thing, I would never expect fosters to treat fostering like a job) , Richardson Shelter gave me hope when I was about to give up.
