Rescue One Springfield

I adopted a dog from Rescue One, and she's been the best decision I have made so far this year. I was very VERY nervous to bring a dog into my home- I have cats, three of whom are seniors that are slowing down. I wanted to make sure that their safety was top priority, and I was previously burnt by a different rescue who did not give full disclosure on the cat I adopted. It wound up fine- but it also very easily could have put that poor baby in danger. Rescue One was a breath of fresh air-- the application process is straightforward and transparent, and Meadow's foster mom took my concerns seriously, and graciously agreed to do two in home meet and greets to be certain that adopting Meadow would be more than likely a good choice. What an exceptional place. We lost our big Akita Hachi in May 2024. My husband was heart broken. He said to me I want to adopt a rescue. One that no one else wants. I December I came across Buddy who exactly what my husband described that no one would want. He had been aggressive and very afraid. I text his foster mom that I wanted to adopt him. It was rough at first with everyone except my husband. They had an instant connection. Buddy is making progress everyday. I loves Jon and us listening to his commands. They are buddies. I wish I had the names of the ladies who helped me this morning. Brought a sweet stray kitten in found at the gym lastnight, was not sure he would make it through the night but he did! Got him to R1 and evaluated, but his injuries are way too severe and he had to be euthanized 😭 I was a wreck but the staff was so very caring and kind. I plan to reach out to volunteer in the near future. Thank you so sooo much to all of you.

I adopted Steve in 2021 and absolutely adore him. He was trained through pups on patrol and still knows some of it. He is a celebrity at the vet and the best boy we could ask for.

This organization is actively working to better the community. They not only help homeless dogs and cats in the Ozarks but they offer outreach services to pet owners to enhance the lives of owned pets. They are great stewards of resources and have the most compassionate staff and volunteers.
