I was the responsibility that was dumped. And its The Truman Show. Not AFV. She doesnt want to be in the car. Obviously. But we cant loiter anywhere.. because thats a crime. She cant stay in the car in the heat without me.. but if we cook in it together thats perfectly ok apparently. There needs to be provisions for this. I am among at least 5 other people at this rest area experiencing the same thing. Chasing shade tied to the car with dogs and no where to go with them and the rest area is taking the brunt of this. If I cant even go into the gym at night to do what I need to do for an hour without RPD circling my vehicle like sharks because there's a dog in the car then there is most defintly no hope of me finding work and no hope of exiting our current situation. We can only hike so
Very kind and helpful staff. You can tell that they truly care for the animals here.
Found a stray boxer in front of the RUSD office building and called to get Redlands animal control to come get it. After 15 minutes on hold the girl told me to call her supervisor and gave me a number, the number was for Devore Shelter. Devore said call Redlands, since the dog was found in Redlands they refused to get it--no one would come get it and the worker at Redlands told me if I left the dog there I was breaking the law. She wouldn't have someone come look at the dog unless I posted it on Facebook first, even though i told her I didn't have Facebook and expressed numerous times he was a very LARGE, intact male boxer with an unknown temperament. I expressed the dog seemed fairly nice but I wasn't feeling safe with him and my three year old alone in the vehicle. Animal control said m
What a disappointment. Staff was not interested in helping me one bit. It seemed like I was bothering them being there. Since I am serious about adoption and have the means to, I will never return or recommend this shelter. Don't waste your time.
If you decide to adopt a dog from this shelter I would suggest fostering before adopting. We chose to adopt a bulldog without fostering him because we live in San Diego and the dog we adopted from here is, unfortunately, reactive to humans. Between vet visits, training and shock collars the amount of money we’ve spent trying to control our dog’s reactivity we could have rescued several dogs from a reputable rescue. At this point we’ve been referred to a behavioral veterinarian at $990 a session as well as medicating him daily with Prozac and if that doesn’t work we’ll have to euthanize him. The shelter never mentioned any behavioral issues but the morning after we brought him home, he was resource guarding our couch and when I sat down he attacked me and the behavior has not changed much.
