Margaret and Melvin at PDK9 are the best (we like to call them M&M) and I would give them 10 STARS if possible! We took our 3 year old rescue pitbull Maggie there based on recommendation of a dog rescue friend who works at the Indianapolis Animal Control shelter. I had rescued Maggie from traffic in Indy in the summer of 2023 after she had been abandoned and we spent over 2 years and thousands of dollars (over $5000) on other trainers to help with her reactive/ agressive behavior towards other dogs and people so she could be permanently adopted. While we made progress with Maggie she still was difficult to introduce to potential adopters, until we took her to PDK9. M&M made an impact on Maggie the first day, I could tell within 15 minutes that their approach was so unique and effective wit
We took our 8-month-old Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier here for a one-week Board and Train, and it was such a great experience. He was a pretty nervous puppy so the team was flexible and we were able to drop him off before work and pick up after (which we really appreciated!!). From the first consultation, we could tell they really know dogs and truly care about them. Margaret was so helpful and provided lots of knowledge and tips, even during the consultation! They listened to what we wanted to work on and tailored everything to fit Bunker’s needs. He needed help building confidence and establishing good behaviors. They were also very supportive and helpful when we mentioned specific concerns. When we picked him up, we saw a big difference. He was more confident and more focused. They als
Margaret and Melvin really know dogs and LOVE to teach. From our initial Consultation Session, to the Board and Train, and throughout Follow Up Classes, they both have given 110% to each of their fur-clients and families. Benny, 1-year old in-tact, male Bernese Mountain Dog, was 10.5 months old when he began training at Purpose Driven K-9 and recently graduated with flying colors from his final review class after a 2-week Board and Train turning 1 year old. Over the last 3 months Benny has become a much more confident, attentive, and playful pup because of the hands on approach they gave him in the Board and Train, but also because of the support and structure offered to us when we took him home for continuous learning. Because of Margaret's structured approach to training, praise, and te
My girl, Clover, is a ~2-year-old Beagle mix I rescued this past March. I don’t know much about her past, but it’s likely she lived in a loud, unstable environment where she wasn’t treated well and never got the chance to just be a puppy. She came to me with no training, no sense of boundaries or safety, and was completely overwhelmed by the world. Separation anxiety was my biggest concern, along with challenges like socialization, excessive barking/licking, potty training, and crate training. From the moment I met Margaret and her team, I felt hope. They are some of the most compassionate, intelligent, and genuinely caring people I’ve ever met. They welcomed Clover exactly as she was — nervous, unsure, and overwhelmed — and treated her with such gentleness and patience. And they didn’t j
Purpose Driven K9, owner Margaret and her staff, are exceptional trainers/dog handlers. I have had them train two large dogs. Murphy, an 85 lb. American Bull Terrier and Max, an 85lb. Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Both were high energy dogs who played hard, were very strong and needed training to help us manage, teach and enjoy them. The staff members were extremely knowledgeable, talented and caring trainers. They emphasized that training a dog’s owner was as important and necessary as training the dog. My dogs are now well behaved and a great joy to me and my family. I am so pleased with the results. I highly recommend Margaret and her staff!
