Polk County Humane Society

We adopted our fur baby from Petsmart through Polk County. Before taking her home we were told she was very shy, didnt like to play, kept to herself, cuddles, holding, nope. Shes 2 years old and myself and my boys felt something when we saw her. Shes home now, and a completely different girl! Loves cuddles, playing, very soical. Has to be around me or my boys, will not sleep in her new cat tree, Has to be cuddled next to us❤️Adoption process wasn't difficult, but makes sure not just anyone can take a fur baby. We love her so much already🥰 she was very well taken care of before adoption, shots, vaccines, clean, etc.

I got an Australian Cattle Dog named Oak from this shelter. I drove over 400 miles to pick him up. Everyone here is amazing! They took such good care of Oak before we picked him up. Feb 2024 update: we got another red ACD. We named her Olive. She is a unique case and will take a lot of work and love. 6-2025 Update: Oak has been with us for about 2.5 years, and Olive about 15 months. They are both amazing pups. Photos are from a road trip to Door County in June 2025. I don't know if anyone remembers the puppies that were dumped in backpacks and the man was arrested. Well, Olive is one of the survivors from that whole nightmare. So you know, she is doing amazing. She goes on road trips with us and has warmed up to us greatly. She loves her big brother, Oak, and will follow him anywhere. S

The people are great here. They helped me get my dog Ero's his best friend. He was losing his mind when I left the house. We got Loki from here. His foster mom took the best care of him. He's the perfect fit for our family.

I was surprised to find they offer a service to drop your pet off and have them taken for spay or neutered.

I adopted the cutest little puppy from Polk County Humane Society Society. I can’t say enough about their wonderful kind souls that work there. I was also very impressed with the cleanliness of the facility. The adoption process went smoothly and o was able to take my sweet puppy home that day.
