I adopted a 4 year old dog from here about 2 months ago. She was brought into the shelter as a stray and had a limp when I got her. I took her to the vet and they said she might be way older like 8 years old LOL! I was surprised. I let her rest for a while and started her on a joint supplement/gabapentin. She is doing amazing now❤️ My new pitbull has been so sweet, social and outgoing since day one and she has such a zest for life and appreciation of attention/affection, despite her unknown potentially difficult past. She has my whole heart! Consider adopting an older or disabled pup❤️ I was worried about stereotypes of pit bulls, shelter dogs and older dogs, but it’s all been worth it. I am so grateful for her! Very even tempered and happy dog

I found the most wonderful 8 month old retriever mix named Stone and my heart is now filled with love for him.. I've given him a new name , it's Dag..and after a couple weeks he now knows his new name, can shake paws and the folks at Pinellas Animal control were wonderful to us and Ive never had a better experience adopting a new pet. He plays with his toys, cuddles and I couldn't of found a better companion than him .he loves everyone! Thank you Pinellas Animal control🥰🥰🥰🥰

I got my dog Stella from here almost one year ago. Highly recommend adopting always! She’s the perfect addition to our family❤️

This is where I adopted Eli back in 2017. He was already 7 years old, according to the staff, and considered elderly. Well, it's now April of 2025 and he's still with me! If their estimates were correct, he's 15 now! I celebrate his birthday every year on his "gotcha" day, which was on St Patty's Day. He's had zero health issues and is still the sweetest boy. He has added so much to my life, and I can't imagine my world without him. He brings joy to everyone he meets. He loves cats and kids, although the staff had no idea at the time. Please consider adopting an older shelter dog.

Well found out my ex girlfriend , put my pup in her name on Dec 17th,,so I called and a very nice man , said come in tomorrow, so the next day I did , talked to Brianna , at first she was a little upset with me,as I was sending a message to my lawyer ,so I just pushed up a picture of my pup , and then my hero Nicole called her , well same girl that gave her the other pups ,she immediately ,put my pup.back in.my name , was so relieved , well shes my second hero and I gave her a big hug, I still don't have my Rubie back,but hopefully soon enough, thank you everyone at animal services
