Pilot Dogs is a god send! My partner went blind at a young age of 55 and needed options to get around for himself. After completing the application and the approval process, he was able to start training at the school in Ohio. It is approx. a year wait, but it was worth the world to Bob when he was selected to have a dog. The 6 week training was good for him to get to know Nugget, and learn how he would partner with his dog and she would show him there is hope. The staff and the trainers at Pilot, do far more than provide a Guide Dog service. They teach companionship, restore hope and teach new life skills for the blind. We thank them everyday, for our ray of sunshine. They continue to help others in Columbus Ohio, and their service is priceless!
I was so happy to be accepted To the school or what I thought was acceptance. I had made it very clear To pilot dogs that I had multiple disabilities That involves cerebral palsy, which gives me bad balance and low dexterity in my right hand, which they were fine with for 3 1/2 years , Which they repeatedly told me that they were OK with. That there would be no Problem with my disabilities, they assured me that their trainers would work with me. The head trainer proceeded to be very standoffish with me And was unwilling to work with me With my multiple disabilities. They told me that I was doing Feeding the dog with multiple Pieces of food Up until My palsy started bothering me And my leg started locking up They just booted me from the program right away And then the dexterity issues with
Steve Holt trained me O&M. He was a wonderful teacher. I feel confident with the white cane and have used it so much since I have been home. The staff was very friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. The cook was amazing. They made me feel right at home and special.
I love this agency. I received my dog two years ago. I have used him daily to continue to be independent. The staff and trainers are the best! They care for the dogs and the clients equally. It was a great experience and when I need a new dog I will not hesitate to call Pilot Dogs. Jake (the trainer) and Ray are wonderful people.
