Petland Topeka

This Petland in Topeka, Kansas has birds, hamsters, ferrets, kittens and of course puppies!! Lots of people will have negative things to say about any place dealing with live animals but I personally think this a great shop. The staff are super friendly and very knowledgeable about their animals. The shop and cages are always very clean and animals seem very well looked after. There's a large variety of pet supplies as well.

I would warn any person thinking about getting a pet here to reconsider. We got a French bulldog here a few years back. This puppy died 5 months later due to having seizures. Sadly I have heard the same story again and again since. The offer to “replace” the puppy if something happens but you must go to their vet which will of course side with them to make it somehow your fault and therefore not honor this.We have 2 other dogs that have been perfectly healthy with him until he passed.

Genuinely abysmal care. Tiny wheels that can cause back injuries with the hamsters, no bedding for them to bury themselves in. Multiple per cage even though they can be territorial. Stressed out parrots with way too many per enclosure. Anyone is allowed to grab the animals and pester them. Multiple kids petting the backs of the birds which can cause behavioral and hormonal issues. Improper diets for all parrots which is causing feather problems. Multiple ball pythons in an enclosure with no hides, enrichment, and an improper substrate. Bearded dragon in a <20 gal enclosure with repticarpet, which can harbor bacteria and cannot be washed. Lack of humidity. No UVB for bearded dragons, meaning they can develop metabolic bone disease and other irreversible issues. Basking bulb and no leaf c

The experience and staff were amazing! Our new family addition Budda (English Bulldog) is healthy and growing fast. We purchased him on a Saturday, but due to little nasal drip and him being on meds we couldn’t take him home until after seeing a vet that Monday. They were very apologetic for not letting us know ahead of time. It’s been a little over a month and he’s not only growing fast, but has definitely settled in at his new home.

The employees here are so warm hearted and caring. They all handled the animals there with care and love, well maintained kennels and living spaces. The manager and owner here are amazing, they’re both so kind and willing to help us with getting our beloved Great Dane. Thank you so much for helping us find our beloved fur baby.
