Paws & Whiskers Cat Shelter

My daughters adopted 2 kittens and we had such a great time being able to go meet all the cats and find the ones that "spoke" to them. The staff was amazing and kind and the cat rooms are clean and the cats have plenty of room to roam or hide if they want.

Paws and Whiskers is the most humane, well run, clean, no-kill cat shelters in the NW Ohio/SE Michigan area. Each time I am at the shelter, I am always impressed with the cleanliness of the shelter, the quality of staff and the dedication of the Shelter Director. I have adopted 5 cats from the shelter, several of which would not have survived if not for the dedication and caring of the staff. If there was a rating of more than 5 stars I would give it.

I adopted my cats from here over 5 years ago & one of the things I love most is that they use PetLink microchips! Its super easy to register & perfect for peace of mind! Adoptions are fast

10/2023 addendum: well I’m going to keep my previous review active with an unfortunate update. A lot of changes occurred this summer at Paws and they’ve been very unfortunate. I can no longer support them as a foster or donor. I will never tell anyone to NOT adopt from them because these cats need help regardless of their circumstances. But Paws is not what it once was and the board needs to know they’ve made major mistakes, and they’re feeling it both in their outcomes and in their pocketbooks. Very, very sad. I’ve been volunteering with Paws for a little over a year and I’m so glad I started. The staff really cares about the cats and they provide excellent care. The staff know the names and stories of all the cats by heart. Cages are only utilized when necessary. Most cats are free-roam

Great place. Came here with my family and caseworker to visit the cats and kittens. The people are kind and super friendly, which is hard to find in some shelters. I love helping the cats get use to human and physical contact. 100% recommend to visit. I will always come back. They also have a pet pantry on the first Tuesday of every month (if I remember correctly). I love that it is the only no kill shelter in Toledo, which I find wonderful because I love animals, especially cats
