Orphans of the Storm Animal Shelter

CAUTION: If you are disabled, this facility is NOT ADA compliant. My wife and I visited to possibly adopt a dog, and discovered that the doorways to the dog kennels are less than 28" wide and my wheelchair didn't fit through. We asked if there was an alternative way in and were told no by the front desk person. With no other options presented by them, we simply left.

My family has adopted 2 dogs from here out of 4 we've had when I was growing up. I ended up coming back after I moved out of state to adopt my first dog on my own, a beautiful beagle All three of them pictured :) The dogs from Orphans have always had exceptional personalities and been a blessing to grow up with/raise. I look forward to adopting many more puppers from here in the future.

I posted my review a few years ago.And withdrew it, because I didn't want to be negative. However, I feel now that I am healed enough to share my story. I had another cat pass away early and her life due to a congenital defect. I was looking for another cat who needed a home. I found a beautiful bobtail named Sadie at Orphans. I was told that she was under a year old and had had all her vaccinations, was in good health. I brought her home and pretty quickly noticed that she was missing teeth. I brought her to my family veterinarian, who told me that she had internal bleeding, was anemic and sick for a very long time. She was much older than I was told. Our only choice was euthanasia. Staff is well educated about the animals, and they are all very friendly! They know the animals and all the best ways to acclimate them to their forever home! I have gotten 3 dogs from them in the last 17 years, I will go no other place. Wonderful!❤️🐾❤️
