Oklahoma City Animal Shelter

Went in to adopt a younger kitty, and ended up with the sweetest 4 year old male cat. He fits in with our family so well and glad we were able to take him home. Staff was friendly and the price was half due to being 4!

My son and I have a very big heart for animals! If you can handle the chaos of everyone coming in the ladies.That work.Their front are absolutely amazing and they will help you with anything! I got to bring home a bearded dragon for my son! Which is the nicest dragon i've ever had !

The front desk staff are so rude. I was supposed to be picking up a dog I was fostering as it was on the euthanasia list. After waiting over 30 minutes I was told that I wasn't the correct foster and that I had not been contacted. I showed my text and the call I made to show I was contacted and had spoken with someone. The front desk pretty much dismissed me and pointed down the hall and told me I could speak with the foster people. After I found the room I was told that I was supposed to be fostering the dog and I had received confirmation to come pick her up, but that the front desk failed to inform the foster team that she was going to be adopted instead. So I not only wasted my time, but I could have been saving the life of a different dog had they just been helpful.

On a friday I brought a lost, emaciated dog to the shelter. When I dropped him off I made it very clear that if his owner couldn't be found I wanted to adopt him. I was told that he would be on a 3 day hold and then if he's still there they'd make a decision if he's good to foster or adopt, sounds good. On Tuesday I swing by to see the pup and sit with him just to give him some love and comfort. I'm told he's still on hold and I can see him friday, okay fine miscommunication. Friday I come back in, he's still on hold and wont be off hold till 5 that evening, when they close. This time I'm getting a little upset, I also cant get a hold of anyone when I call so I have to drive 20 minutes up here every time. Not sure how or why sick dogs are housed in the same room as each other as more things are air borne. Went to adopt a dog she was just fine playing and no issues, signed up to get her was notified she was ready to be picked up but no one told me she was sick until after my card was ran. I had 2 other dogs one that is a senior dog and a URI could have been deadly to her and my other dogs is about 4 which could have also gotten sick. Sick dogs need to be in a room other dogs aren't in. Dogs with URI and Parvo house in the same room right next to each other In kennels. Nothing that keeps any time of illness from spreading. Will sadly never try to adopt a dog from hhere again.
