The bottom line up front is that Dr. Samuel is the best opthamologist in the area, and even if you have to travel farther to see her over another local specialist, please take my advice and make the trip. My dog was diagnosed with glaucoma after I adopted her from a shelter at age 10. She had two infected eyes then, and now at 13 she has no eyes. Long story (not really) short, when her first eye was removed due to pressure and treatment no longer working, some tissue/part of a tear duct was left behind causing consistent drainage. When she had to have her second eye removed two years later (after an unsuccessful almost 7k surgery with another specialist to save her eye/vision), they went back in to try to remove the tissue to stop the leak. They are patient with explaining things and open to answering the questions that one might have. I have had to seek care for my beautiful, older, super sweet, Himalayan cat Jasper a few times from Ocean Veterinary Opthalmology. They have helped Jasper get better and I find them trustworthy and competent to care for my pets - who mean the world to me.
