very positive adoption experience here. :) they went above and beyond by coordinating allowing me to bring my (vaccinated and healthy) immensely social 14 yr old senior cat in to meet with some of the kitties. i wanted to be sure that whichever cat i adopted would be a good fit for my senior – the last thing i want to do is stress him out. we found a good fit, i put in an application, and she came home with me the next day. the new adoptee has settled in quite well. she likes her bed and she likes playing with the cat toys i have around my apartment. the shelter generously gifted me a bag of goodies such as treats and a laser pointer toy. for a $55 adoption fee, i have zero complaints. feels like i got a bargain, even, hahaha.

My sister Kathy adopted the most adorable dog here. Emilee is adjusting well and has found her furever home. This shelter is run with love and compassion. The entire team is professional

My kids and I (14 and 10)and I have went there for years to walk the dogs, play with the cats ect. The last two times we went we had an awful experience with this one guy who works there. He wouldn't allow us to play with the dogs or even touch them. I understand if they have a dog theyre not sure about or that has anger issues. This guy was just extremely rude in the way he went about talking to us. He could have been nice and that would have been fine. We will not go back.

The Oak Ridge Animal Control/Shelter is, by far, one of the most unprofessional organizations I’ve ever dealt with. The staff lacks basic courtesy and professionalism — instead resorting to cussing, threatening, and trying to intimidate people rather than calmly and respectfully resolving issues. My interaction with one of their dog catchers, Bryan R., was so unacceptable that I am seriously contemplating legal action over his behavior and conduct. No member of the public should ever be treated this way by city employees. Oak Ridge deserves far better from those entrusted with the care and safety of its animals and community. And as a tax payer, I demand it.

They were great!! Wonderful set up and staff. We were able to bring our [crazy] pup with us to find her perfect new friend and the staff was So patient with us!
