Montville Animal Shelter

I struggled leaving this review because I think that these are nice people. I wouldn’t adopt from here again though and I don’t want anyone else to have to go through this. Take the kittens to the vet while they are still there to make sure they are healthy before you bring them home. I have spent more money at the vet because they gave us a kitten with so many issues. They said he was treated for parasites but he came to us with three. Ringworm. Giardia and a skin parasite. I then had to treat all three of my kittens because the other two I already had were at risk. I also had to worry about my 7 year old getting sick. They knew I had a small child and two kittens ( one who was in observation after being treated for FIP) There is no way they didn’t know these kittens had parasites

So happy with this shelter! I fell in love with one of their 4-month-old kittens online and ended adopting both that kitten and one of her litter-mates. After submitting my application, I got a call back and approval within two days. It was hard to choose a second kitten because they were ALL so well-socialized and friendly! At 4 months old, they were all spayed/neutered and microchipped, with most or all of the vaccines they needed. The adoption process was friendly, quick, and organized, with all the paperwork already mostly in order (even though I'd only just picked out my second kitten on the spot). So impressed with how this shelter cares for their animals and makes things easy and pleasant for the humans! And loving my new family members!

I adopted a cat (Darwin) from these wonderful people and I'm absolutely blown away by how well socialized he is. He was ready to play and explore as soon as I let him out of his carrier. All the cats there seemed hyper friendly so I'm glad I went there with a decision in mind or I would have spent hours trying to pick a new family member. Thank you so much for all you do for the animals. It's obvious the people at this shelter go above and beyond to make sure your new best friend is happy before you bring them home.

Great shelter with wonderful people who helped us tremendously in trapping, neutering, and finding homes for a family of feral cats. Also got us a wonderful new kitten! Great shelter! 7 year update: cat still ruling the backyard with an iron fist and got stuck in the same hole in the drywall 5 separate times.A+++

Very knowledgeable, very caring and very fair people. I adopted an adorable morkie and the adoption process couldn’t have been easier. I first tried to adopt a small dog from the rescues and after filling out what felt like 100 applications and never hearing a word from any of them, I got fed up and went to the Montville Animal Shelter and found my baby. The staff was extremely knowledgeable, pleasant and helpful and even bathed the dog the day I was to pick her up. When I took her to the mandatory vet follow up they said there was nothing for them to do because she was all up to date on her vaccinations and had zero health issues. The place is maintained very clean and organized. I was impressed by the dedication the staff had to all the animals there. They really care. They won’t
