This was a great office for us for 26 years. However, our 9th animal that they treated for us was a female Australian Shepherd pup who developed fear of being handled by the techs or vets here. She never got to see Dr. Richieri as he may be cutting back hours? She did not exhibit this fear anywhere else, not even at daycare where they bathed her regularly. We were asked to muzzle and heavily sedate her at MVH after a few visits in which she resisted letting them take her in the back to give injections or perform exams. I did as they asked twice, muzzled her and the second time heavily sedated her and muzzled her, and regret it. After that, I looked up fear free handling and found a vet in Carlsbad who is fear-free certified, along with their staff. The difference is night and day for o

We love taking our dog here. All the staff are great, our dog is baseline anxious going anywhere as she is a rescue. The staff here make her feel safe. Thank you for such wonderful care!

This was our first time at Melrose Vet Hospital. The Doctor was thorough and quick with her assessment. I came here on a recommendation and I was very happy with the professional staff and clean offices. My dachshund can be spicy 🌶️ and everyone took great care to make her feel comfortable. It was a bit slow getting out of the office but I’m not sure if that was because they were busy or because it was a relatively early appointment. We will come back for sure.

I’m fostering a pug for local rescue and they have taken exceptional care of him. He has a broken leg. He got neutered and they also did his nostril surgery to open them up so he can breathe better. Their follow up is excellent. They are informative. they shall care and concern and explain things very thoroughly really satisfied with the level of service.

They saved my 4 puppies!! I took in a litter of Mexican puppies and quickly found out one of them had parvo- which is the worst. The team was quick to see my boy, kept things very clean, and went above and beyond to make sure he and his brothers are all healthy. They also gave me space to cry, and ask them a million questions. They gave me options for different price points and talked me through everything. I can’t recommend them enough!
