Madison County Animal Control

A friend of mine found a deceased cat on his driveway that seemed to have been hit by a car and left for dead, the cat seemed well taken care of, well fed and owned, NOT a stray. He called this number and was informed by whatever incompetent officer who answered, to simply “throw it in the garbage” and rudely questioned why we would even pick up the cat. As a veterinary technician who has worked years in emergency veterinary medicine, I’ve seen my share of dead pets who have been brought in by good samaritans. It didn’t matter if the pet looked like a stray, looked loved, or even came to us in a crumpled bloody mess in a box, we always offered our condolences and compassionately helped reunite the deceased pet with their owner via scanning for a microchip (if they had one). This morning I sadly had found a dead cat on the curb outside my house. It looked very well taken care of and I figured it must have an owner despite not having a collar, so I called the vet's office to see if they could check for a microchip. They told me it was pointless for them to check and that I just needed to contact animal control. So I tried to call Animal Control and it immediately instead directed me to 911. I then tried to call the other number listed that was under Wildlife Control to see if they could direct me anywhere. I finally got someone and explained to the man what had happened, but unfortunately did not get a name from him. I explained that I wasn't sure what to do and asked if I could bring the cat to them. His exact words were, "Why would you even do that?" I tried

My son and I rescued a dog that looked about half dead off of the side of the road. She was starved , you could see almost every bone in her body and could barely walk. I put her in my Tahoe and took her home. I immediately call Madison county animal control. They were amazing!!! Great customer service, they got my address and came out and got her within 1 hour of me calling. This place is amazing!!! The gentleman that came and got her was so very caring and so careful with her. I hope she will be ok.

Please extend my thank you to Todd. He found our dog Atlas, who was limping, lost, dirty, and afraid. Todd picked Atlas up and drove through the neighborhoods after hours trying to find the owners. We flagged him down and we're reunited with Atlas. Thank you so much Todd! He is an excellent public servant and represents our community very well.
