Lowndes County Animal Shelter

I didn’t even wanna wait from pulling out of the parking lot before being able to rave about the amazing experience I had at the shelter. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly and more than happy to show you around and introduce you to every animal. I personally worked with Grey, Who was happy, engaging, and ready to help with any questions I had or any dogs I wanted to pull out and play with and get to know. I personally am a trainer that helps pull dogs from shelters and put them with veterans in need so I was definitely looking for a particular type of dog and this facility did not disappoint. Went into the animal shelter on 9/9/25 just to look. As I was walking out one of the officers showed me pictures of dogs that weren’t in the normal kennels that most of the adoptees were in. I saw Diamond (now renamed Gia) and remembered her from a post I saw on Facebook. Instantly wanted to meet her. Once outside, she was just the sweetest and I instantly decided she had to come home with us. Best decision and I’m grateful for the staff and the officer for showing her to me… The cat in the last picture was also adopted from here almost 3 years ago. And surprisingly they get along great.

Went in looking for a companion and found him! I love the fact he was already neutered and had his rabies vaccine. I have nothing but good things to say about this animal shelter. They sent us home with a leash, collar, dog food, and toys.

Logan was great and very patient with us! We are very happy to be leaving with a puppy the same day. They also gave us a bunch of free stuff for the puppy and a sick leash.

Adopted our 1st cat today which we can pick him up on Monday named, Mercury. The latest here was so helpful everything was so quick and easy and even allowed us to pet and play the cats. I highly recommend adopting here 1st.
