The staff are very friendly and helpful. They appear to be genuinely concerned about the pets. It's always clean and the animals are well cared for.

Klamath Animal Shelter was friendly and pretty clean. I was going to adopt a cat. They said it was $100 including neuter, chip and shots. Wow, what a deal I thought. Then the vet calls the next day to ask if I want pain meds or blood work for my cat. I ask why and how much. Pain meds are $35 cause we just cut off your cats nuts. Blood work is $85 to make sure we don't accidentally kill him when we put him under. I was shocked. I would gladly pay the $ had I been prepared. Also a policy of neutering an animal without pain meds and possibly killing them while putting them under seems pretty stupid. Just disclose all costs and tell me it costs $215 to adopt. When I got to talk to the front desk person she claimed that she was clear that they only cover the neuter. But she never had mention

If you get a chance to go in there, consider Hawkeye. He is this incredible dog who's had a rough life and has been there for 2 years. He would be a rough customer for sure, but if you're so inclined and you know your stuff, he's worth the risk. After covid, he wasn't okay with people walking by his enclosure anymore, but the wonderful woman who feeds him has earned the right to be his person. This tells me there's hope for him There's Hope for him. He's beautiful!

I gave them a quick call looking for an ability to rehome my cat. they said over the phone basically to my face that the cat would be put down after a given time due to it being “unable to rehome” which is their excuse to “euthanize” the animals, in other words killing them for absolutely no apparent reason. as of august 20th 2025 there is 2 cats on their website, and the website they use is a 3rd party website that in most cases out of not, nothing will ever officially go through. i’ve been looking at these reviews and oh boy, isn’t this sad. the disappearing of peoples animals when you lawfully have to try to notice the owner or the public, and they try to hide it being more shady than anything. their loophole is in oregon you can legally euthanize animals if they’re “unable to be rehome

The Klamath Animal Shelter in southern Oregon had not just one, but two large rescues involving criminal cases over the past year. Due to two lengthy legal cases, the days that the pets were in the Klamath Falls shelter began to multiply, and so did the number of pets: dogs who were pregnant at the time of their rescue began giving birth. OHS staff partnered with the leaders in Klamath Falls, navigating the criminal justice system together so that these pets could be released from custody in these criminal cases. Their hard work paid off and these pets were finally released from their legal limbo. We brought three dozen dogs and cats to our shelter in Portland for adoption. As you can see from these photos, they sure were cute, and quickly went to new homes! The Klamath Animal Shelter staf
