Kay's Animal Shelter

Adopted my beautiful Zelda (formerly Miya) on August 29th from Kay’s and i absolutely love her! She’s just about to be 4 months old and is very healthy and happy in her new home. She is very spoiled and loved and always treated like the princess she is. Adoption process was very straightforward and very informative by the owners. Was given all very useful information about the pup and was even given a voucher for her to be fixed at their local animal hospital that covers all necessary medical care which is wonderful. Kay’s shelter really cares about their animals and likes to make sure they go to a good fitting home. Would definitely recommend for any interested potential adopters.

We adopted Mustang back in May and he has been the BEST addition to our family! The process was quick and easy! So thankful for our furry baby.

Note: Our adoption experience at Kay's was over 13 years ago- this is more of a thank you. We adopted Moxie (you had her as Mia) in November of 2011 as a young adult dog. She was labeled special health needs since she had come in heart worm positive and was treated. Moxie was the loveliest and healthiest pup for all these years. We are so grateful. Moxie had a long and happy life. We even had her DNA done to see if we could somehow get a similar pup someday, but Moxie was so many different small breeds! Truly one of a kind.

The gentleman that took care of the adoption process was nice and informative..and lots of kttens...I would love to adopt all of them, there was a lady that came through, she was donating dog food..very kool they accept donations.

My concern regarding my recent visit to Kay’s Animal Shelter in Arlington Heights. When I asked to see the kittens, I was informed that I needed to fill out a form. Upon review, I realized it was an adoption application. I clarified that I was not there to adopt at that moment but simply to see the kittens, though I was open to adoption in the future. Despite this, I was required to complete the adoption application and provide my driver’s license information. As someone with a career in the veterinary field, I have visited many shelters, and in my experience, visitors are typically asked to sign in—not to complete adoption paperwork unless proceeding with an adoption. This policy felt unusual and left me uncomfortable, particularly since I had no intention of adopting during this visit. W
