Jefferson County SPCA

My daughter is new on the military base there and has been lonely and I suggested she adopt a kitty and said I'd cover the adoption fee. Imagine my SHOCK when she calls and tells me with tax and all it's 190$ , here in South Carolina and many other states especially during the winter the fees will be drastically reduced to make more room for strays who need help but 190$ for a shelter cat is outrageous a normal SPCA cat adoption here is 60$ and it's not freezing and snowing and we don't have strays dying from weather like y'all. I don't get it. I sent it to her because she had already bonded with a kitty but for a military family , and a shelter cat from a non profit , 190$ is absolutely unreasonable.

Had to recently surrender a dog due to extreme personal issues and everyone involved in the process were so understanding and compassionate with my situation. Thank you so much for assisting me and Stella in this painful and emotional time. Truly hope and pray she finds a great home.

The ladies that work there will sound like they know what their talking about until you try calling them a week later with undiagnosed problems that your dog has that they will try pawning off on a real vet cause they are trying to avoid the bill. Multiple families on Fort Drum report that Their cats and dogs come home with problem's from this place. I actually went thru the paperwork and they had nothing on record about my dog and his dry skin/allergies spite him crying every time he itched his ears as soon as I brought him home.2 stars only cause he’s a great dog,not cause he came from a great place…

We had an amazing experience going though the Jefferson SPCA! They matched us with the perfect dog to add to our family, Glitter! Everyone was very friendly and welcoming! You can tell the staff truly loves and takes care of the animals there and truly care about finding them the right home! I would highly recommend adopting through them!

Very nice staff and many beautiful and friendly animals as well. My fiancee and I adopted Clio here and she is the sweetest cat I have ever met. The staff takes very nice care of the animals and makes sure the animals are up to date on all their vaccines, flea medication, etc.
