Huntsville Animal Services

I had a really positive experience with Huntsville Animal Services. The staff were kind, knowledgeable, and clearly care deeply about the animals in their care. They took the time to answer my questions and made sure I felt informed and supported throughout the process. The facility was clean and organized, and it was obvious that the animals’ well-being is a top priority. I truly appreciate the compassion and dedication of everyone there and am grateful for the important work they do for our community. I would absolutely recommend Huntsville Animal Services to anyone looking to adopt, foster, or support a local shelter.

I had a great experience adopting my "furever friend" from HAS. The staff were all kind and friendly. Even though this is a public shelter (AKA "the pound"), I truly believe the staff is doing the best with the resources they have available. You can check out their social media and find so many rescue stories. They often have events to encourage adoption and fostering.

We just had the absolute worst experience with Huntsville Animal Services Absolutely awful experience. My Fiance and I found a dog wandering outside our home and did exactly what responsible people should do. We walked the neighborhood, knocked on doors, and tried to find the owner. A neighbor had seen the dog before but had no idea who it belonged to. When we came here for help, we were told we needed to take the dog back to the neighbor and have that neighbor bring the dog in themselves. This neighbor is extremely unwell. That suggestion was not only unrealistic, it was completely irresponsible. We were actively trying to help a lost dog and do the right thing. Being turned away over a technicality while a dog is clearly in need is unbelievable. You cannot claim to care about animals

The people working there were all amazing. Thank you Joshua Springer and the rest of the team for loving Pumpkin Spice when she desperately needed people to see her potential.

In January, Officer Childs found our elderly cat after he’d been missing for some time. His microchip wasn’t working properly and she went above and beyond to find his family. The shelter employees took excellent care of him while he was there too- he was safe and loved and they kept his belly full. They care very much about the pets in their care. We had to say goodbye to him two weeks ago today due to his age and failing health but HAS is why we had an extra 8 months with him, and they gave him the chance to live out his last months safe and warm at home with his family. We’re so thankful for their dedication, compassion, and hard work.
