Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County

During the dangerous cold snap we got here in Florida a few weeks ago a poor cold little kitty came and asked me for help. She was sweet and of course freezing and it was windy with temperatures getting into the low 20s. So I brought her into my garage, made her a warm bed, gave her some food and water and let her rest. The next day i brought her to the Humane Society and they found out she had a chip. Her name was Hindy and she had a family near my house. I was so glad to get her reunited with her family. The people at the Humane Society were so helpful and caring for the kitty. They scanned her, found her family and notified them. Such a great happy ending! Thanks Humane Society!!

We had a wonderful experience here. It was quick, easy, and actually free the day we went to adopt our bunny. He now lives in a bunny mansion, has a brother that he loves, and we love him very much. His luck got even better when he was chosen for Chewys customer appreciation for auto ship and from his profile they hand painted a portrait of him and sent him a card. He also got chewy clause this year as well. I guess it's a typical story where you can end up at the bottom but with hope you can get more than you ever expected. Munchkin is doing well and it's been a couple of years we have had him. His name was Buggs when we adopted him. I highly recommend adopting here.

Excellent staff and excellent intake process I live in a neighborhood that has a lot of feral kitties. Most of them have been trapped, spayed and neutered and released but some of them unfortunately we can’t get too quick enough. I was able to bring in two babies and they swiftly took them in. I couldn’t be more appreciative as an active animal foster and volunteer and advocate. It’s nice to know that you have a support system in the town that you live in.

My nephew let my dogs out and gave him a long game of catch me if you can. Well, 1 of them he couldn't get but someone did get a hold of him. Took them to the Humane Society on 77th and they scanned him. So I received a text and phone call but sadly it will 5 minutes before they were to close so I had to go first thing in the morning to get him. Very friendly lady at the front Emily was already taking for a walk, so once they were done we were ready to be reunited and left.

With a breaking heart, I had to return a lovely cat that that didn't fit our established cat family. I was sobbing and my heart is still broken. I was treated in a manner than made me feel worse and was called a week later again at work to make me cry and explain AGAIN what happened. This needs to be fixed. Nobody wants to return a cat! It's heartbreaking. That woman should be terminated.
