Humane Society of Northern Virginia

Adopted our first pets from here. Humane Society of Northern VA is an organized, responsive, and very caring organization. With the adoption fee comes deworming, microchip, needed vaccines, and spay and neuter too which is super helpful. Love what they do. Getting my kittens from here was the best decision ever!!

I can't even begin to express the level of gratitude I have for this organization, and specifically for Maria. She is truly a guardian angel of the furry ones. A few months ago I began my quest to help my Dad with a growing cat colony on his property since most were not spayed/neutered. I started to research the Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) program and reaching out to different organizations for information and potentially some assistance. I hit the jackpot when I heard back from one of the many calls I made - Maria. She provided me with a wealth of information through multiple phone conversations and via text. She also offered to help me - that was music to my ears. There were a total of 12 kitties, 8 needed to be neutered. It was a multi-day process and Maria was there helping me through it

Let me tell you! This place is so full of hard work, dedication to their furry friends, and the love the volunteered staff have for their work is incredible. We went in one week and rescued the next! The process was very easy. Shout out to Christine for being so helpful and very kind with this process. I have years of experience with kitties and she took it upon herself to make sure I knew what to do and telling me little fun things about my kitty I adopted. Very happy she made sure I knew what I was doing. Keep up the amazing work! I highly recommend everyone to come here if you’re looking for your next furry friend.

First and foremost Maria is amazing. She is strong but not overbearing, passionate, knowledgeable and concerned. If you decide to adopt from the Humane Society of Northern Virginia, you will leave there with the confidence and knowledge you need for raising your new little family member. I have grown up with cats (though I haven't had any in a while), and knew some of the challenges I would face once I adopted and I brought them to their new home. With Maria's guidance, I prepped the home with scratching posts, a tree, cat boxes etc. and the transition was so smooth (though I know not everyone will experience this). What an incredible animal rescue! The ladies work so hard and provide great care for the cats. I worked with Maria and she helped me with the adoption of Ruby! Maria has responded to my questions day and night! She is so knowledgeable and we have become friends. I text her pics and she is available anytime. The team does everything they can to provide these beautiful cats a caring and loving environment while the kitties wait to be adopted. I truly recommend them.
