Humane Society of Decatur and Macon County

This non-profit has treated my family and I exceedingly poor. We sent a stray we had cared for through their TNR program and never received her back. The return part was absolutely false in our case. I highly discourage anyone and everyone from utilizing their programs and supporting them. Their president is quite possibly the most unethical, unprofessional person I have ever dealt with and I will NEVER support them in any way financially, verbally, or physically. I love animals and will support a cause and organization that is reasonable and ethical instead.

Gladys Garrett was brought to the Humane Society by her loving family to be spayed. Instead of simply spaying her and returning her to her home, the Humane Society renamed her, fabricated a false tale of her "abandonment", and adopted her out to a family that she doesn't belong with. The Garretts are devastated that their precious pet has been STOLEN. This place is despicable!

The Decatur/Macon County Humane Society is staffed with dedicated & loving people that really care for the animals. I adopted a beautiful snowshoe cat that had been returned and lived at the shelter for 11 months due to aggression issues, but with their care for him and the careful selection process he's found a loving home with me. Thanks, Lisa & team! :)

Everyone here is so kind, and made the adoption process quick and smooth. My family (especially my boys) are over the moon with our new little addition, and we are so in love already! You can tell that the animals are taken care of well and treated kindly here. “Heli” (Helios) adjusted so quickly, both to his new home and family. If the time comes to ever add on a brother or sister, we will 100% be coming back here!!

We met, got acquainted with and adopted our new family member, Pinky. The entire process only took three days. Pinky got used to us really quickly...about a day and a half. She has fully adjusted now and seems to love us as much as we love her!
