My pup hurt her leg while visiting family for the winter and I was scrambling to find a vet I could trust last minute. I cannot say enough good things about Dr Lera and the ENTIRE staff at Heron Lakes Animal Hospital. I have been to SO many vets between all my pets over the years and I have never had such thorough, professional and genuinely kind experience before. From the moment you walk in you are greeted with a smile and joy from their receptionist Victoria (you are so sweet and so helpful!), their vet tech Bert is simply oozing out with genuine love for your pet, and Dr Lera, who took almost 4 hours for a consultation/second opinion visit to make sure all t’s are crossed and all of my questions and concerns were answered fully. What a wonderful office in every way! Everyone is so friendly and Dr Lera is excellent, he truly shows his love for animals through his patience, kindness, and willingness to spend time with each one of them! He addresses concerns and is very knowledgable. He is just what I was looking for in a doctor/healthcare partner to care for my fur babies. He has a holistic approach, which I LOVE and doesn’t push anything. Truly Heron Lakes Animal Hospital was the perfect landing place for the care of my pets and I am so grateful to have found them! My dog Ludo and I had such a positive experience with Dr Lera. He really takes the time to thoroughly explain things and connect with the animal so they feel comfortable with him. He is an XL American Bully and looks intimidating but is the biggest baby and Lera treated him just like the big baby he is. The staff was kind and welcoming and very easy to communicate with both on the phone and in person. We will definitely be back and recommending to friends.

Took Rocco in for a dermatology issue with his paws. Dr. Lera was extremely thorough and we started a plan to heal our baby. I would highly recommend Heron Lakes Animal Hospital and Dr. Lera. Very pleased.

Absolutely fantastic experience with Dr. Lera and Victoria! From the initial phone call to schedule our first appointment, to the moment we stepped into the office and met Dr. Lera, everything was wonderful. We were greeted warmly by Victoria and the “Boss Lady” cat. Victoria is incredibly friendly, professional, and charming. Dr. Lera took the time to get to know us before examining our cat, allowing her to become comfortable with his voice. He listened thoroughly to our concerns and after the examination, provided explanation and walked us through all of our options. I highly recommend Dr. Lera!
