We absolutely LOVE Hawthorne Animal Hospital! This is the veterinarian clinic we take Doug to, and I truly couldn’t ask for a better place. From the moment you walk in, you can tell they genuinely care about the animals and their owners. The vets are incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and thorough. They take the time to explain everything clearly and never make you feel rushed. The vet techs and the entire staff are just as amazing — friendly, compassionate, and always willing to help. If you care about your pets DO NOT take them here. They did 0 tests on my animals. Were no help at all. I took 2 of my cats for an appointment. My male cat has discharge coming from his eye, sneezing, fatigue, lack of appetite, and a cough that happened 5 times. He started shaking his ears and not allowing me to touch it. I told the vet his symptoms and she took a swab from his ear and then threw it away. Said his ear appeared to be okay, but yet he is still acting like it’s tender at home. The vet came to the conclusion he had an upper respiratory infection and gave him an antibiotic. They did 0 testing to see if it could have been something contagious like feline herpes etc the antibiotic does absolutely nothing for viral infections if that’s the case. Dr. Stahlhut was amazing, caring, and compassionate. We are thankful she gave it her all to help Remington, our black lab. We transferred Remi to VSS in Manchester, MO for a CT scan. Cancer was found and surgery was not an option. Remi passed on the evening of November 25th after putting up the absolute best fight. Someone asked my best memory of Remington. My answer: My memory is a big, single nine-year memory. It's a memory of how much constant love and loyalty he provided to us. His love never stopping, not for one moment. Right now, Remi's swimming and playing fetch with no more pain and struggles!

This was my first visit with this animal hospital and they did not disappoint. My dog that I've had for 5 years began having seizures out of nowhere. In calling the vet to bring him in, they were sympathetic and and attentive when it came to deciding what to do when it came time to make one. As hard as the decision was, it was time for him to go. The staff members there were very friendly and gave me all the time I wanted with him before he had passed. Giving me a keepsake of his paw in the mold cast and his paw prints. They even reached out and sent a card in the mail with more paw prints and even his nose, expressing their condolences. I appreciate all of them for their word and dedication. I recommend this place to anyone. Thank you for helping me in this difficult time.

Called because our dog ate to packs of sugar free gum! I knew xilatol is poison to dogs. They would not take her without poison control vet being called - 110 for the call. Had poison control on phone when I arrived - They would not speak with them. Said they would have to call back with case number. Told dog was very nervous and did not like vets. I Walked her back asked If I could stay with her - They said no , only to have them bring her back and they asked me to assist them giving her eye drops to. Induce vomiting- them.then left her with me and gave me a bucket for her to puke in. I cleaned up all the puke. After a few hours the vet comes back reading me what poison control said. When I.told him yeah I am aware of that - I told you all that without being a vet - he asked why I was ups
