Hancock County Humane Society

After about only two days of bringing Ritchie home from the humane society, I can say he is the most loving and goofiest cat i have ever met. Everyone here treated us with the most respect and care. it’s obvious they truly care about their cats, and are very knowledgeable as well. the second we walked in the door we fell in love with Ritchie, and began the adoption process, which took about a week. If you are looking for a cat, I’d definitely recommend making an appointment to stop in and see their cats:)

Attempted to view cats on a Saturday, they were not letting anyone in because it was their cleaning day. We made a appointment for later in the week after learning that they had a Seniors for Seniors program.. We picked out a cat, filled out the paperwork and was told that there was to be some kind of board meeting for approval. We were later notified that the cat was not eligible for that program. Previous to adopting, I considered being a volunteer. NO WAY I WOULD CONSIDER IT NOW

We had a feral kitty have babies under the back porch. With the cold April weather, we didn’t realize the mom wasn’t keeping them warm enough and lost a few of them. Panicked, I called the Hancock County Shelter and the nice lady I talked to around 6pm on 4/8 walked me through bringing the last 2 inside and what I needed to care for them. I so appreciate her patience and kindness as I’ve never taken in 4 day old kittens before. Tonight, they’re warm under a heat lamp with full bellies!

My mother had a customer at her job tell her that the humane society in Greenfield Indiana may have our cat that got out a month ago so we decided to go on Saturday December 9th 2023 during there open time to go there. We were greeted by a older lady that we assume has been running the place for years. Before we could say anything she opens the door and asks what we want like we're bothering her. We tried to explain the situation to her she said that they have not taken any stray cats and for months and the cat in question was born here about a year ago. She didn't even let my mom look at the cat to ease your mind thinking that our cat was there. She was very rude had no empathy for our situation and acted like we were a nuisance to her and that we were doing something wrong. If you're l

A week ago I went to foster or possibly adopt senior cat ... advised of two cats ... of which I filled out an application. Frustrating ... today ... had to call back a week later to find out I was denied given locale. I should have been told this last week.
