We have been taking our dogs here for 15+ years. MJ is very knowledgeable. People often misunderstand her or miss how humorous she is. I have 3 or 4 vets that I pass before I make it to her office. When we board we take them to her because if something were to happen while I’m gone, she can operate immediately! She has been with me through the loss of Bo and Jake and calmed me over Lucy’s aging and helped me when I took in an underweight 4 month old Hank.

I brought my dog Bubba to Dr. Wixsom to have a large mass on his tongue looked at. I was turned down by a couple vets in Lexington that they couldn’t do anything. He is 12 years old and a diabetic. He was starting to have a lot of difficulty eating and if we didn’t try something then that was going to be a terrible end to my best friend. She took him to surgery and I knew all the possibilities of how things could end up but I got to bring my little man home!! She removed the mass and a couple bad teeth!! She is my hero and Bubbas!! He is doing so well eating and drinking acting more like himself. Dr./commander Wixsom was great. She gave me info about our bird that I did not know after being a bird owner for 13 yrs. Her knowledge and care is second to none. Her approach is straight forward like her military background, and that is what we need more of. If your pet needs it she will tell you. If it does not she won’t sell you a bill of goods just to sell it. This is what I demand in my own Dr. so you should demand that for your pet. They deserve it. And guardian animal lives up to its name.

The absolute best place to take your pets. Dr. Wixsom is very knowledgeable and she loves what she does. You can tell that the entire staff of Guardian Animal is truly passionate about their work. Our cat recently had a health problem that required overnight stays and a very long surgery. Dr. Wixsom communicated with me well throughout the whole process and did everything she could to help our pet. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to bring our sweet girl home, but we know that she received the best possible care until the end. The staff was empathetic and comforting during our time of loss, and even had a rose delivered to our house. They’re just awesome. Seriously, take your pets here.

We cannot say enough good things about this clinic! Always professional and courteous, they truly went above and beyond during a very stressful time for our rescue puppies. Although they are not our regular vet, they worked us in quickly—not just for one dog, but for an entire litter of SEVEN puppies after a parvo scare! THANKFULLY all pups tested negative after one tested positive the day before. We were being seen for monoclonal antibodies, an item that no other vet had available in our area, but didn’t need the treatment after all. The price we were quoted for the treatment was significantly more affordable than any other clinic within a three hour radius.
