Greater Androscoggin Humane Society

Everyone was very friendly. I went to look at one kitty but when it seemed like that one wouldn't be a good fit, they walked around with me to visit with others. I did leave with a new fur baby. They called him Lovey Boy because he is but I call him Moochie because he is a mooch. I think he's decided that he landed in a good place.

This place should be closed down. The staff is ridiculously rude, it smells horrible in there, they do t allow you to see an animal unless THEY think it’ll work. Not even for a first meet and greet. They treated my grandfather like a complete POS. They yelled at him when he walked in the door and said “We told you we’d call you if we had nothing for you.” He adopted a dog from there and had to bring it back in fear for a reaction to a new visitor. Come to find out, the visitor scared the dog and he nipped at him. My grandfather STILL sees he is able to be adopted and they won’t even let him try a meet and greet again. His heart is broken. He has the BEST home for him. I even walked in and spoke to the manager about a second chance. She told me he was first on the list for whatever dog he w

I adopted a kitten here almost eight years ago and he’s the best cat I can even imagine having in my life. I visit and donate when I can. They have a great layout and welcoming atmosphere, all of the cats spaces have clear windows for complete viewing and you can go on the other side to touch through the cage doors if you ask, I think. I don’t think you can visit with the dogs unless you make an appointment to adopt, but I’m not positive. They seem to take really great care of all the animals that pass through.

I had my brother bring in his dog so we can meet another dog. They both were doing amazing doing opposite way walking past each other. Then they put the dog in a pen and had them do a barrier meeting. Which then lead to barrier frustration. Causing them to lung at the barrier. I am thoroughly displeased with the fact that I was denied adoption because of the actions taken.

They were so kind to my dog! We even showed them video's of her dog training our "Honey" Great people there very caring!
