In addition to being a dog-sitting lifesaver, John has become practically a member of the family. After numerous overnight home sits, lots of walks, and - obviously - a lot of love, our dogs ADORE their “Uncle John”. 🙂 We trust John with our babies and he manages our “difficult” one with a firm but caring hand. He’s professional, friendly and the real deal. We’re so glad we found “Uncle John”.

John has been a trusted friend to our dog for over 8 years now. Our dog used to go to daycare and boarding in Cold Spring with John and absolutely loved his time there. John would keep us updated every day with photos of our dog during all his activities, including hikes that our dog especially enjoyed. The quality of the photos John takes conveys how attentive John is to every detail when caring for an animal. I've always respected John's approach to caring for our dog and the other animals in his care. John is incredibly professional and very compassionate towards animals. We're so happy that John lives closer to where we now live, in the Mid-Hudson Valley. We highly recommend John for walks, hikes, and overnight care!

We reached out to John a few days before we had to leave for a trip to tend to our two pups and he was so accommodating even with our last minute schedule! I was nervous because my home and studio are all attached and I was afraid to let a stranger have access to my home but John was truly incredible and trustworthy and was just there to tend to the pets. John came 3 times a day to walk, feed, and hang out with them. During the whole experience he sent pictures and videos and detailed reviews of the day to show us how they were doing. It was such a relief to see the care and attention he gave to each of our animals. We also have a cat and he went above and beyond to tend to him too, even though we only paid for the dogs. Our dog Kota was a long-time doggie client of Gray Shepherd before we moved out of state, and we have all missed John and his wonderful care so much! He has a special gift and magical touch with dogs, and Kota absolutely loved her time there, whether it was a day visit or a weeks-long stay. Can't recommend highly enough!
