My partner and I have visited the Goathouse many times over the past year, eventually adopting our sweet Walter in February 2025. The Goathouse isn’t a typical cat shelter — their cats are indoor/outdoor and live a cage-free life — and I think this design makes them special. Other recent reviewers have pointed out that the facility needs updating and communication can be slow, and they’re correct. However, it’s clear that the Goathouse does the best it can with what it has. They rely on donations and volunteers, so please help out if you can!! Overall we really appreciate the mission of the Goathouse and hope folks consider adopting from them.
DO NOT ADOPT FROM HERE. I adopted two kittens from Goat house about 3.5/4yrs ago. I love my cats they’re wonderful. BUT when I adopted my cats I was told they were healthy, spayed, vaxxed, and chipped. Almost none of that was true. The day we went to pick them up Goathouse thankfully realized they had not chipped one and had to do it right before we left. Then after we got them home we realized they had a ring worm skin infection and intestinal worms. We got them healthy after some Urgent Care vet visits. When I asked if Goathouse would be willing to reimburse us even partially for the vet visits or medication costs they ghosted my emails and calls. Now four years later my vet examined my cat and told us that one of my cats was not spayed. The records that goat house gave us were for a mal
Amazing place for animal and plant lovers! Beautiful gardens, friendly animals all around including cats, goats, chickens, and Guinea fowl! I really love the freedom these cats enjoy here, and the staff were wonderful. Go visit today and help support their work!
I feel it’s time to share my experience with this facility. I adopted a cat that I was explicitly told was healthy. Shortly after bringing him home, I discovered he had mange, fleas, ringworm, ear mites, and calicivirus. These illnesses were then passed to my kitten, who nearly died and developed neurological issues as a result. The lack of care at this facility is deeply concerning. Cats are clearly not being properly treated. Medical issues are brushed off as “allergies” or something minor, and the animals are not given the care they need. Based on my experience, I can only imagine what conditions are like behind the scenes and what diseases may be present in that environment. I am truly disgusted and heartbroken. These cats deserve better. I sincerely hope they are transferred to a faci
I’ve had a really bad experience with this place and heard many similar stories from others. The owner, Siglinda, is extremely rude and aggressive. She yells at people trying to surrender animals and treats volunteers like they’re stupid. It's not a welcoming or respectful environment at all. The animals often look sick and poorly cared for. Many have skin issues and it doesn’t seem like there's any quarantine or proper medical care happening. I know people who adopted cats they were told were healthy and fixed, only to find out they were sick and not spayed or neutered. They had to spend hundreds at the vet. The facility itself is in rough shape. There’s moldy wood, sharp metal sticking out, and it doesn’t look safe for the animals. They leave wet food out for hours, which is gross and at
