Fur Life K-9 Academy

Vanessa and Kristin are amazing trainers. They are 3rd generation dog trainers, and you cannot go wrong with hiring them. They love the dogs, and are really great at explaining to clients how to continue working with their dogs. Love them!

Vanessa is a third generation dog trainer and obedience trainer who is extremely knowledgeable. She is also the very best of people always willing to help with training tips and honest advice. Vanessa goes above and beyond by becoming part of the team helping to integrate your new fur family member(s). I have two pooches that are the best (of course) because of the expertise of Fur Life K9 Academy. My wife and I were trained as well in order to reinforce the training after Smoky and Nala graduated. Thank you Vanessa.

I’ve taken my dog to Fur Life for the last 4 years, but I am extremely disappointed now. Vanessa changed her policies, which forces you to pay and keep your dog there an extra night because she will not allow a pick up on a Sunday. I agreed (not very happy about the situation) and then was told that I needed to pickup at 11:00AM on Monday. Most people work on Monday including myself. I was charged the late pickup fee as well because I couldn’t pick up at 11:00 on a Monday. I would have been happy to pick him up before work, but was not offered this option. This is very frustrating because we often go out of town from Friday to Sunday.

This trainer was recommended with a free session from the rescue I used. My dog is extremely fearful, and I thought she could help me with that. She did give me a few good tips, like teaching him how to play, but ultimately her advice was "sometimes you have to accept them for who they are and leave them be. It's not like you are taking him anywhere." Very disappointing advice. Anyone with a fearful dog has a collection of bad advice, and this is up there with the worst I received. I wish she would have been honest and just admitted she was not the right trainer for my dog. if you need basic dog obedience, Fur Life seems to be just fine, but for a fearful dog, do yourself a favor and find a qualified behaviorist or veterinary behaviorist.
