2/28/26 Walking into Fried’s Cat Shelter has always felt like stepping into a place where compassion is the guiding force. I’ve been a regular visitor for the past few years, stopping in to give hugs and snuggles to the cats and kittens, but today I was especially moved when I noticed, for the first time, the headstone of Hans and Lucille Fried outdoors. Holocaust survivors, they left behind a legacy rooted in love and mercy. The inscription reads: “To save a life is more in conformity with God’s law than to kill.” — Hans Fried. We like visit and give ALL the kitties love and attention. We have plenty at home but it doesn't stop us from going in. Lol The staff is always nice and helpful. Love seeing all their adoptions on their fb page too!

After reading a very negative recent review, I felt compelled to leave my own after my experience at this shelter on 2/8/26. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with smiles and genuine hospitality. We were given a quick tour and then allowed space to look around and spend time playing with the cats. I was honestly very surprised by how clean everything was. There was no overwhelming smell of cat urine or feces anywhere. Every room was clean, well organized, and fully stocked with beds, towers, and toys. Every cat I interacted with seemed happy, healthy, and well cared for. By the end of our visit, we adopted two bonded brothers. The women working there were incredibly kind and made the entire adoption process such a positive experience. I can NOT explain how compassionate Frieds is to anyone that has never been there. There staff always takes the time to explain Adoption procedures, their daily care of the kitties, the good work they do through their TNR group, etc... Their kitties get the best health care they could from their wonderful vet. The building is always clean and bright. I 100% recommend Frieds!

Frieds goes above and beyond, not only for the cats in their facility, but to help community colonies as well through spaying and nutering. Recent upgrades at Frieds are amazing. The policies they have for adoption and fostering ensure that cats are placed in the best match home. We are very lucky to have a place like Frieds in our area.
