Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center

This facility is a blessing for the pure fact that they bring in any and all types of dogs. While a majority of these pups are usually large breeds, they do occasionally have a few smaller dogs, but they do not last long. Main lobby is clean and inviting. Our experience last week was also very disappointing. We had come in multiple times last week as a family to look for a dog to adopt. Last Thursday we fell in love with this little guy (see photos attached), and spent nearly 2 hours in one of the meet and greet rooms. We spoke to employees about him, and we're very open that we may be taking him, but wanted to be sure. By the end of our 2 hour visit, we were all in love with him. Been fortunate to come and take the dogs on Doggie field trips. This is awesome for the pups but even more so for me. Definitely, pet therapy for myself. I thank the kind staff for entrusting me with the precious souls! I highly recommend everyone come and take these deserving pooches out for the day or hour or 2. Absolutely, chicken soup for the soul!!!

Loved this place, was my first time adopting and they were very easy to talk to, they let me walk the dog and I was able to adopt within an hour, no complications, he had a respiratory infection which is no worries they provided medication for it and he was better than ever within a few days.

If i could give zero stars I would. We fostered the sweetest girl named Sage who fit in perfectly to our family, who we were prepared to give the best life. We were told she had a small upper respiratory infection that would soon resolve. She got progressively worse and ended up developing pneumonia because they decided to spay her before the infection was gone. She was then rushed to an emergency vet where she was given only 24 hours to FULLY improve or she would be euthanized or I would have to be fully financially responsible for keeping her alive. 24 hours to determine that a dogs life no longer matters because of a dollar amount… Every single person in this shelter should be ashamed of the work they do. Love volunteering here. You can tell the workers seriously care about the dogs and take such good care of them and get to know their cute personalities. It always brightens my day whenever I get to walk the old cuties!❤️
