What a kind and compassionate establishment. Upon walking up to the shelter / cafe I was hit with the smell of brownies so immediately I liked this place. Once inside the establishment was clean and well decorated. I brought a little kitten in that a band at the venue I work at found and didn’t know what to do with. Deanne was professional and prompt and immediately treated this little kitten and handled her with care. I’m looking forward to coming back sometime and enjoying some tea (and a brownie) with some cool cats. Thanks for all you do Ferndale Cat Shelter!

Worst place to get a cat from. They want to take a virtual tour of your house, evading your privacy. The good looking cats always have to come in a pair. Meanwhile, they charge $175 for each cat. The lady that we talked to said the kittens get lonely lol 😂 i’m not adopting a kid, I’m adopting a cat a very big difference but it’s like they put you through all this nonsense as if it was a kid. If you wanna keep your sanity stay away from this place, by the way, you can buy a purebred cat for $300 or more. Why would I pay them $175 for two cats when the second one is being forced on me.😂

Went for the catfe experience, so I can’t comment on the adoption process. The space is divided into 3 sections: the cafe, a central sitting room, and the room with the cats & toys. The cafe is relatively large, and they offered tea, coffee, and a small assortment of pastries. The central room smelled a bit, but it is near the kitty litter area and isn’t the room that visitors would stay in very long. The staff and volunteers were friendly and provided information about the cats’ temperaments (e.g., which cats were playful, which ones will scratch, the set of cats that were friendly but were perched up high to avoid interaction, etc.). Stayed for almost an hour to pet cats, play, and learn about their rescue process / the organization’s history.

I have fostered a pregnant mom cat and (after she got them) also her kittens for the FCS. It was the fist time for me and FCS team was always there to support me with advice and whatever supplies I needed. Lynn was always very quick to reply. We worked around things if I needed help or someone to temporary jump in for me - it was never a problem. All the spay appointments were organized quickly and information was provided before and after the appointment so that I knew what and how to deal with. I can say they always have the animals best interest at heart!!! The adoption process for all the kitties and the mom was easy and quick. They all have their forever home now! I ended up keeping one of my foster kittens myself and she makes me very happy every day ^^

Adopted a 5 month old kitten from the Ferndale Cat Shelter in 2023, and it was all around an easy process. Applied online and was able to meet the kitten at the foster moms house that weekend, and we fell in love. The foster mom was amazing and very welcoming. The adoption process was very thorough, which I appreciate. They asked for recommendations (which they did call and verify) and did a virtual house visit. Would highly recommend. Our kitten has done so well and they really do the best to place animals where they will grow and thrive.
