I called to inquire about volunteer opportunities for my 15-year-old daughter. We already had an application ready, as one is available online. When I asked about volunteering, I was abruptly cut off and told, “I no longer take kids. I had nothing but trouble with them.” The call ended shortly after. I said “thank you,” but I was honestly taken aback by the tone. It would have been completely understandable to hear that 15 is too young, that there is an age limit, or that teen volunteering is no longer offered. Unfortunately, the response felt dismissive and judgmental, which was surprising—especially when someone is calling with the intention to help. We have two cats that we adopted two years ago from a different animal shelter, and my daughter is actively involved in their care. Our
My husband wanted to get me a cat for Christmas.... it wasn't reckless decision made in a sesond... we were talking about it for 3 years.. we finally got to the position where we could afford stability, enough space and finances to provide for feline for next 15 years, maybe another friend. My husband just wanted to get a feel about a place and see cats. She said they are closed and you need to fill up application to set up appointment. I don't know, if I wanna adopt older cat and just want to see them first to make decision which one is best fit before we proceed applications.l... Maybe just me
I rescued a tiny 6 week old kitten who wandered into traffic at a red light while waiting for the light to turn green. When I first called this shelter, the owner was not feeling well and suggested I try some vets first, which was a good idea but both I visited had recently accepted strays, so they declined. I tried a couple other rescues and when nothing worked, I called the owner back & she agreed to take in this dear little kitten as a last resort. She instructed me to take the kitten to a vet she worked with and the employees were cheerful and the office very clean so I felt confident I was leaving this darling kitten in good hands. Some time later I asked to visit and Cindy very kindly obliged and let me visit the little guy. She mentioned she runs the entire thing by herself and I co
I am so grateful for Cindy from Feline Friends. She managed to turn an incredibly stressful situation into a beautiful and perfect situation. am an employee at a different animal rescue and got a call about 2 kittens who were playing and hiding up car engines and in exhaust pipes at a dealership. After work that day I went to the dealership considering how dangerous that environment was for baby kittens. So I had no choice but to get them outta there. I was unable to make them mine as I currently have 7 animals. To make the situation even more stressful, I was already fully aware kitten season is overloading animal rescues all over south Florida, including the rescue where I work After calling around to any rescue I could for 4 days I called Feline Friends. Cindy told me they have no
I called today to inquire about fostering or adopting a cat and had a really disappointing experience. The staff member who answered the phone was immediately closed-off and rude, dismissing my questions without giving me a chance to explain my situation. I’m an experienced cat owner who takes excellent care of my Bengal, and I was hoping to find a rescue that cares about matching cats with good homes, but I wasn’t even asked any meaningful questions about my experience or living situation. It felt like they made assumptions based only on my age without any real conversation. After reading other reviews, it seems like this is a common experience. I hope they work on being more open-minded and welcoming to potential adopters and fosters who truly care about cats.
