Eastern Shore Animal Hospital & Urgent Care

After moving to Elizabeth City, we needed a vet for our two dogs, Winnie (6 yrs) and Finn (7 months). I have appreciated their knowledgeable and professional staff each visit, but it wasn’t until our puppy was hit by a car that I realized how indispensable it is to have such a reliable and welcoming veterinary office. They immediately saw Finn upon arrival and did everything needed to stabilize him and make recommendations for further care. From the front desk to Dr. Kakareka, everyone showed compassion and gave me detailed information and options every step of the way. I really appreciated Samantha, the urgent care vet assistant, telling me what to expect with how Finn would look when I first saw him after treatment. My First time experience For urgent care at Eastern shore was nothing but positive! The whole staff was very friendly and organized. Dr. Kakareka Was super knowledgeable and very clear on her communication. I was very satisfied with my visit and the care that my five month old puppy received I would definitely recommend this place to anyone need vet care. Thank you!

Unfortunately we had to put my big guy down. It was an extremely hard decision to make. After searching for someone to help me. I found Eastern Shore Animal hospital. They treated my Dog and I like family. They treated him with such compassion. My Dog Dominus was a very big boy, and they showed him such a kindness. They helped me navigate through one of the worst days of my life. Thank you guy's so much.

Back in early Nov 2025, we had to put down our 12 yr old lab mix, Winnie. One of the worse days in our life. She went everyhewhere with us as we traveling the eastern seaboard. After calling 4-5 vets in the OBX area, Eastern Shore charged us 25% vs other VETS in Kitty Hawk and KDH. The staff at Eastern Shore allowed us to set up an appt a few days in advance to have our dog put down, and allowed us to stay with Winnie as long as we needed, which was over an hour. Great staff, very humane, gave us a nice bag to bring our dog home in our car, and helped to load our dog. This team made our very tough day much easier. These are good people that understand and don't just try and overcharge you for pet services. Highly recommend you take your pets here anytime you are in or around the OBX area

My cat escaped and showed back up covered in blood and clearly extremely injured. I called Eastern Shore Animal Hospital and they fit us in and treated him and were very clear upfront about the costs and what my options were. They were empathetic and thorough. Saeko is still recuperating but is much better thanks to the prompt and excellent care he received at Easyern Shore Animal Hospital.
