Durant Animal Shelter

If you live in or near Durant please consider going to the Durant animal shelter and adopting one of these poor animals. We went to the shelter to look at the dogs. This is what we saw. At least 10 dogs being left outside on hot concrete with one bowl of water for all of them. No shade and no way to get ac to cool down. Then there is one dog on the side on the shelter in his own area with no food and no water in 90 degree weather. None of these dogs had toys or anything to play with. We then went inside and it was filthy there was pee and poop all over all of the floors. No ac in the building. No toys for the dogs. Multiple dogs in one create. This place was filthy with trash from the workers as well. Animal control goes and cleans up but barely lets them out. There is no one who is with t

I went I to check out a dog I love the girl working there. They have their dogs well maintained and even work on training then kennels were all clean. The place is small but it's shows the love and effort they put into their animals

They killed my sister cats because it was “contaminated.” she died of a drug overdose and instead of waiting for next of kin to get the cats they just killed them. They say it’s part of their process but the cats hadn’t ingested any of the drugs so they were completely healthy. They choose to kill two completely healthy cats, one only being about a year old and the other being about 4 years old, we wanted her cats to have something of her left but they didn’t even give us the chance. I wouldn’t trust this place unless you want your perfectly healthy cats to be euthanized

This place is right next to a scrap yard in severely poor conditions. Picked up two stray dogs that were going to get run over. Was told that no one can drop off any dogs there. They weren’t going to take the dogs. And if I let them back out. That they would have me ticketed for doing the right thing and picking two stray dogs up off the street so they wouldn’t die! I got help from an animal hospital taking them in without a second thought. Dont go here period.

People are polite on the phone and in person, noisy because of all the dogs, but they do their best. If you're looking for a dog or puppy go see them, may not be a pure breed but they'll make you a good dog.
