I boarded my 5-year-old Goldendoodle at Dogtopia Louisville December 20th. He was healthy at drop-off. By the evening of December 22 while still in their care, I was contacted and told my dog developed vomiting and bloody diarrhea, and it was pure blood!! That is not normal “stress” and indicates an acute illness that occurred during boarding. Beyond my dog becoming sick, the overall experience was extremely concerning: •They advertise camera access, but cameras shut off when they close, so you cannot see your dog at night and for me the cameras shut off at 4pm and the facility closes at 7pm. And they do not advertise that. •The app is terrible — slow, glitchy, and the webcams barely load. •There are many blind spots, and the outside camera did not work and has been like that for months i

I’m writing this as a close friend of the dog’s owners. When they were notified that their dog became seriously ill while boarding at Dogtopia Louisville, the dog was immediately picked up by the family and rushed to the emergency vet. After the dog was discharged from the ER, I took him into my care so he could recover in a calm, safe environment with close monitoring. He had been experiencing vomiting and bloody diarrhea, which is extremely concerning for any dog. This dog is truly an amazing, gentle, and well-cared-for dog, and seeing him in that condition was heartbreaking. Given how sick he became while boarding, it raises serious concerns about what may have occurred during his stay and whether proper supervision, care, and safety protocols were followed. With proper medication, r

Everyone is nice and friendly. The owner introduced himself and was really nice. I appreciated him taking the time just to see how things were going with my dogs and just the friendly conversation. My dogs are happy here and well taken care of. It is a peace of mind when you have to be away to know that the dogs are in good hands.

I have had my dog groomed at Dogtopia for years. When I was interested in boarding her they mentioned that she may not be a good candidate for boarding because of her anxiety. A company that isn’t invested in the wellbeing of pets wouldn’t do that. So, I would like to respond to Elvira’s comment below from a veterinary professionals perspective. A dog that is not used to boarding or used to being at daycare can get stress induced colitis resulting in bloody diarrhea. Even if a dog Is used to it they can still get it. It’s a simple google question. Stress colitis is when anxiety triggers inflammation in the colon. This is not uncommon among dogs And cats that aren’t used to boarding or going to daycare. That sweet dog started having diarrhea and I would venture to say, Dogtopia contacted

My husband and I sent our dog to this Dogtopia location for a meet and greet prior to a trip we have coming up and they called us not even an hour and a half after drop off to come and pick him up because he “wasn’t interested”. Our dog takes a while to warm up and he LOVED the Dogtopia location we took him to where we used to live. Highly disappointed in laziness of the staff here because they didn’t even give him a chance to warm up, they just gave up on him. They set him up for failure, saying that he may fail because it’s right before thanksgiving. It just sounds like a lazy excuse. Our dog loves daycare and was so excited to go and now we’ve got a sad dog on our hands because he didn’t even get to go basically because they probably left him in the room for 15 minutes then removed him
