Del Mar Pet Hospital

I have not had any negative experiences with this vets office until recently. The front office staff is wonderful, and my family pets have received good care and treatment for many (over 15) years. Recently, my cat needed an oral exam and possible extraction of a tooth. I was scheduled for a drop off and exam/procedure. Drop off went as scheduled, until I received a call stating that my cat would not be able to receive any care that day due to there not being time for her. I still don’t quite understand why this happened seeing as I scheduled an appointment to receive care for my pet. I know the practice was sold to new ownership in the last couple years. The pricing was also very high. I ended up taking my pet to a different vet, and received the exam and procedure including everything th

I was prescribed two medications that the next vet was very confused about since they had no indication of being useful. I was told to stop giving them and now have a 40 day prescription and 10 day prescription of pills that dont have a use. They failed to email the bloodwork to the next vet after telling me they would. They pushed to take a xray which I later learned would not provide definitive proof of the issue. Now with the correct medication my dog is seemingly making a recovery. I felt rushed and a lack of empathy there. Hopefully this was just a off day, but lots of room for improvement on my visit.

If I could, I would put down "10 stars " and above! Dr. Brooks is ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE, CARING and VERY PROFESSIONAL ! My son's dog ate something that ended up stuck in her small intestines. Dr. Brooks was available, got her in Monday Morning and home late afternoon after surgery. Mind you my Son's dog is 11 yrs old. Dr. Brooks has cared for many of my animals through out the many years and frankly feel she's part of the family! Reed in the front office was so helpful and took the time with all our questions too. They all made a very stressful situation feel not as stressful ! Thank-you so much for being there for our sweet Fur Baby. She's home Resting , Recovering and Healing <3

I absolutely LOVE Del Mar Pet Hospital! My dog is so excited to go every time he whines with excitement when we get down the street. My cat even falls asleep on the exam table when she's there. The staff and Drs are so friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and work with you on pricing. They are the most fair priced vet I've been to in SC county, and I've been to a lot. I'm talking $100 cheaper for a frequent shot I have to get my pup. I've been fleeced before coming here. The waiting room is inviting and clean. They even offer free teas and coffee while you wait! Ordering prescriptions is an absolute breeze and at super reasonable prices as well. I only had to wait 10 minutes for blood work to come back! My pup and I are new clients, having recently relocated here. Wonderful staff, friendly and fun, great care (so far just preventive), easy to get appointments. Very happy we found this little gem!
