Our little guy somehow escaped our yard this morning. I was frantic and immediately got in my truck to scour the neighborhood for him. Mushu, a 1 year old crème colored Shiba Inu had proven to be an escape artist today. I searched every street in a 2 mile radius of our house. As I was headed to Phillipsburg PD to file a report, my fiancée called and said Commonsense Animal Rescue had him. I had just been on the street he was found on literally minutes after they picked him up. Upon arrival to pick Mushu up, the staff was totally awesome!!!! I even got to meet the guy that caught Mushu. They were worried he would have gotten bitten up as Shibas are known for this, but we are adamantly training ours different. They commented on how Mushu was the best boy. Kudos to Commonsense for a fantastic
We adopted our new cat Tibbs 2 weeks ago. I had stopped in a couple of times and was just looking for a good match. Young ladies helping to take care of the cats were really great in giving me information on each cat. I was looking at and they really do an amazing job making sure every cat there has some love. Personally, I don’t know how they do it. I have to comment just on some of the other review experiences as I know the cats are all checked out, they have it right on the cage if a cat is hiv or diabetic. Our cat was fixed, had gotten all his vaccines and we received paperwork and a tag. For the amount of animals they take in, they do the best they can. If they know there is an issue with a dog or cat. They do best to tell people upfront. as far as somebody stating the dogs are not w
I am devastated to be writing this review. I adopted a kitten from this shelter believing I was bringing home an animal that needed love and care, not one whose health had already been severely compromised. According to her paperwork, she weighed just 3 pounds. I later learned this is completely abnormal for her age—she was 10 months old, not a young kitten. This means she was severely underweight and likely chronically underfed while in their care. The shelter environment itself was extremely filthy. Litter boxes appeared dirty, surfaces were unclean, and the overall conditions raised immediate concerns about sanitation and disease control. She was also not spayed, which is unacceptable for an animal being adopted out at that age. From the beginning, she had noticeable eye issues and on
This place should be shut down. I went there on a Sunday morning to pick up my cat that they found I paid $180 and brought tons of donations for the dogs and cats. I asked to see the dogs when I went back there they were all laying in their own waste The poor things were covered in poop. I felt so bad that I filled out a volunteer application. I was told I could come back. Clean some cages and walk dogs and I had no problem doing that when I got there I met with the lady name Katrina with a heavy accent. She was so rude. Telling me the only thing I could do is dishes when I was told the opposite on Sunday Told me she’s been working there 33 years and never heard of anyone coming to walk the dogs I was so upset I left. I called the next day to speak to the owner. The receptionist took my na
I’m very disappointed with my experience at this shelter. Communication was poor, and I did not feel supported or treated respectfully during the process. I expected compassion and professionalism, especially from an organization that works with animals in vulnerable situations. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I hope management takes feedback seriously and improves how they handle people who are genuinely trying to help animals.
