Cobalt Veterinary Clinic

As a Portland native, I’ve been bringing my animals to this vet for the longest time. The only break I’ve had was when Pieper bought them out, and that’s when I went somewhere else. However, I just wanted to give a shout out to Portland vet for my visit yesterday. I am moving to South Carolina today, and yesterday I was running a little behind. I called them to let them know, and unfortunately my ETA was going to be over the appointment window. However, they still told me to come in, and the doctor accommodated everything without any hesitation. That’s A + customer service right there.

We recently switched to this vet. The staff are all so sweet, accommodating and welcoming. We recently had to put our sweet baby Suzie to rest. The compassion, communication and understanding showed by Dr. John made our incredibly difficult decision feel like the right thing to do for our sweet girl.

If you want a no bullshit review, here you are. My service German Shepherd and I went through a crazy 2024. Needing to rebuild life from scratch, living out of our car and what we could find until like any great hero, we stood back up. I wanted to find somewhere to give her the attention and care she needed because it was well over a year since she’s been seen. WOW am I impressed. First this is the cleanest vet I’ve ever seen! The building is beautiful and up to date. Kim ( I think) , McKayla (jinx), Morgan who’s probally the sweetest human I met all day and Jonathan Gustavson, DVM who saw my Pup were all amazing. ( also the tech I don’t know your name but you were amazing too! The level of care, active listening and real empathy was noticed. Eri ( my dog) was calm and treated well.

My dog was gravely ill and Dr. John Gustafson was kind, considerate, empathetic, as was the front desk staff and the very techs. I love these folks. My dog crossed the bridge a few days later. They were responsive too.

I have been taking both of our dogs there since they were in their other location. We recently got a puppy, who has worms. Have been waiting for a call back for 3 weeks now, have called every week with the only response being “the doctor hasn’t reviewed the paperwork yet, we’ll try to expedite it.” To say the least, I gave up on them an another vet took us right in, WITHOUT having to have a doctor look over the paperwork first. We had an appointment in 3 days with a new vet. I will no longer be bringing either of our dogs there.
