Clifton Friends of the Shelter

My dog passed away in December and I had a ferret that passed away a couple years Prior. You were never really finished coping, but a little time has passed and I’m ready for another animal so I decided that adopting would be the better route to go than to buy from a breeder because there are many animals in need I figured a kitten would be the best way to go. I’ve lived in Clifton my entire life so I figured this Clifton animal shelter is the best route to go after filling out my adoption application. They reached out to me almost immediately and everything with them has been super smooth and a great experience. Staff communicate poorly here. I was told to send emails to one person who forwarded them to person #2, and I'd receive person #2's response indirectly from person #1. They set up their numbers so they work one way - I couldn't call someone back if I missed a call. I gave up after a month in inqueries despite being told I could adopt if I adhere to their rules. (We discussed leash training, and this was considered too dangerous.) Their cats are wonderful, but they spend an unnecessarily long time waiting to be adopted. The system is broken, and there's only so much volunteers can do to improve it.

I came here to help out in an animal food collection event and I loved it 😸! The way they take care of the animals is superb and the location is very clean. You can see the ladies there have a very special bond with the animals and they all have good hearts with the animals. I recommend to adopt pets from here, as they are well kept and checked on frequently.

I’ve been trying for months to get an appointment. I even came in with my mom and was told I needed to make an appointment, which I did—twice. At this point, I’d rather go somewhere else. I’m good with not moving forward and won’t be doing business here. Thank you.

Amazing work and dedication by these guys. Its not easy doing what they do sacrificing their time and energy a never-ending cycle! spay and neuter and keep your pets indoors is so important to keep the shelters clear!
